The center of a non split point just "mushes" the metal out of the way. This causes problems on stainless and aluminum when work hardening is a big factor.

All are either in common everyday "civilian" use or are readily understood by the orignator of the topic, bamatoolmaker. Which ones do you need explained? Was it disintegrating? Pat
