Help With Same Old Song and Dance

For your mowing, are you looking for a lawn type cut or just maintaining a decent pasture cut. You can get a decent cut with a rotary cutter if you are not looking for a well groomed lawn. I regularly mow about 3 acres (see attachment), sometimes mow another 7 or 8, and sometimes cut brush with the same 6' rotary cutter. However, a rear cutter that large can sometimes be a chore in and around the trees near the creek. Those roots may be a little hard on an expensive finish mower.

I too was new to this just a few months ago. I was in the same dilimma as you and did not know what to do.

I immediately slashed the JD due to cost and the Kubota as I had bad experience with them at a previous job.

I had it narrowed down to the NH 29D the Massey 1285. I was ready to buy the Massey until I saw the Mahindra 3015. It is not a massive tractor in size, but it has a great deal of weight for the heavier jobs. I have loved every minute of it.

Also I got the rear finishing motor on it it is a Woods 60" and it works wonderfully.

The best thing about the Mahindra though was the value in savings compared to the other major brands.

For the price you will pay for a decent ( heck.. any) ztr mower.. I'd just rather have that much more tractor. A MMM could be added to the tractor to get almost as good a cut as the ZTR.. less money too.

ZTR is deffinately a great mower.. but it don't haul logs or pull stuck cars outta ditches.. etc.. etc.

And I've pulled many a neighbors stuck ZTR out of a ditch hapilly with my tractor when the soil was a tad damp and his wheels spun and he high centered..
