Buying Advice Help with trade in / new tractor price

What amazes me is how they can get away with advertising it as zero percent interest, when smart people know that it is not. How is that not false advertising, and why aren,t they penalized for false advertising ?

I first negotiated my tractor price, then I told them I would like to finance through KUBOTA. In my case I did get 0% interest, and being in Financing, I understand the business side of it to keep inventory moving during economic downturn. It's a business decision that keeps employees, factories, dealers and other suppliers remain in business albeit at a lower profit margin, without drastically altering the business model landscape.

Don't know your tax situation but in a lot of states if you trade you only pay tax on the difference so that can help off set the difference between a private sale and the trade in price. If you are tax exempt then I guess it really does not matter.

when i traded my mx5100hst 4x4 fel with 250hrs 2010 for 7040SU4x4 fel i told the dealer i wanted $18000 for my tractor or no deal.the tractor jockey told them $16000.then they told them it was $18000 or no deal.i can up $200 and they can down $200 abd the trade was done.the hold up was the R4 tires and scuffed paint on the floorboard and few scratches on the tractor.so tell them you want $20,000 or your walking.your tractor will go right to the tractor brokers and wont stay at the dealers.

Well I was in the research phase before consulting my wife. She thinks the increase in monthly payment now isn't the best option. Thanks for the replies and your time, but sadly no bigger tractor in my near future.

Too bad the wife doesn't think you can swing the larger tractor, but that's life. I have had a problem through the years accepting my wife's scornful look and purchased below what I felt would do the job, then paid again for what I really needed. Didn't turn out that way when we bought this place and our first tractor. We went to the Kubota dealer with a B series on my mind but my wife looked at a Grand L and said, "Wouldn't this be a lot more useful?" Her decision served us well.

We technically can afford it comfortably but there are certain job related changes that may take place at the end of the year she's worried about. Maybe I will continue my search next year. However she doesn't work so it sounds like I have a permanent brush hogger.
