Yanmar 1300D
Hey, I bought a rebuilt Yanmar 1300D a couple months ago. It ran great until the other day when the fuel filter sprang a leak. I fixed that and now it won't start. I filled the tank and primed the fuel line -but it still won't turn over. It tries, but just won't turn over. I'm new to tractors and diesel engines any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I think the Yanmar 1300D is the same as the 155D is that correct? I'm trying to get a manual and can only find manuals for the non grey market Yanmars.
Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forum Brian. You will find lots of information here on Yanmars. The YM1300D is the same tractor as the YM155.

There should be multiple posts with instructions for bleeding the fuel system, but here is a quick rundown.

There are a total of 3 bleeder screws. The fuel filter assembly has two. Start with the one on the left as you face the tractor (the one closest to the fuel tank). Open it and keep it open until only fuel comes out. Then do the one on the right. The third screw is right where the fuel line attaches to the injection pump. Follow the hose from the fuel filter assembly to the injection pump - the bleeder screw is on the "banjo" fitting - you'll understand why its called a "banjo" fitting when you see it. You need to open this screw and keep it open until it runs just fuel.

The tractor should start up for you now. I have never had to open any of the high pressure fuel lines on a Yanmar to get it to start after bleeding, but others apparently have. So if the tractor still won't start after bleeding at the three screws, then loosen one of the high pressure (steel) lines where it enters the injector on the left side of the engine. Crank until fuel is spurting out. Then tighten and it should start up.

I hope this helps.

When you get a chance, fill out your profile so we know more about you - like where you live, etc..

Welcome to the board, Brian.
Greg pretty well covered it. I have not had to bleed the high pressure lines either. Just lucky I guess.
Happy tractoring. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I too have never had to bleed the high pressure lines.

One thing I saw in your post.. did you say the tractor would barely turn over?

If so.. sounds like a starter problem to boot.

Well that did it! Started like a charm. Thanks also for the cross reference to the American Yanmar I was able to find an owners manual with that number. Brian
