Help with year of tractor

I have a New Holland 3930 I inherited from my father in law I have the serial but I don't know how to read it.
It says it was made in England. Some of the serial is messed up but the first numbers are 11982y and that's all I can make out. There is more but they are rubbed off. Can someone help me with this.

Yep, as Thomas says, TractorData.com is a friend to one and all... for example, I learnt that your "New Holland" is actually a FORD and your provided SN makes it a 1999 year.
