Hey guys I recently purchased a 2210B(after selling my 165d). Everything works except the differential lock. Did not find out until I needed it while brushchopping.Any advice would be appreciated. what is the sequence to take apart to look at the fork?
thanks

My 186D was like that when I bought it. I had a shop, former Yanmar importer, open it up because I thought it meant tearing down that whole Powershift transmission.

At least on mine it turned out to be far simpler. In summary take the pto cover off the back, drive out the rollpin between the fork and the rod, pull the rod out the side after removing the fender.

I hope yours is built as simple as this.

On mine the dogs between L/R axle were fine. The difflock wouldn't engage because the rollpin had worn a cavity in the fork, so the fork was no longer pushed far enough to one side. (The rollpin rides in a 'V' on the side of the fork, so pressing the pedal slides the fork away from the rollpin.)

Welding up that worn spot on the fork fixed it.

I posted about this here, probably last August, so a search should find it.

Assuming you have checked out your pedal all the way to where it goes into the transmission housing. No pins sheared or anything? I'm going to try and post a picture of a 186d which should be similar to yours. The picture shows the pto removed and is as good a picture as you will see showing the differential lock and fork. Hope it works and helps you. http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...1273438130-broken-power-take-off-img_2632.jpg

My 1510d had a very stiff diff lock and one time when I had all the internals out of the rear--pto and 3 pt lift--I took the shaft out and cleaned up the bearing points. It works as it should now--before I would engage it and then had to physically disengage it when I was out.

It is not too complicated and not difficult to work on. I was afraid that I would not be able to slide the fork mechanism against the spring to put the roll pin again, but it was not hard.

Great photos Winston and Mike!

One last comment. This probably doesn't apply to the larger 2210D, but on my tiny cramped 186D, the difflock pedal is too far forward. I wish I had shortened that external rod while it was apart.

The right floorboard is so short that it is barely longer than my shoe. It would be easy to have a shoe wedged by that pedal while attempting an emergency eject.

I have the seat back as far as I could mount it before the 3-point arms hit the seat at maximum lift. This to make space in front of me to duck into, when I go under a low limb in my orchard. But this seating position has the difflock pedal digging to the back of my ankle.

I may still shorten that rod.

Hopefully your much larger tractor doesn't have this issue.
