I'm building on 5 acres of former farm ground. The ground is pretty smooth and no opportunity for roll over exists. I began looking at ZTR's in the 5-6 thousand dollar range. I then thought of all the things I'm going to need to do that a ZTR won't (snow, 200' gravel drive needing grated, basic landscaping, etc....). I then contacted a FarmPro dealer locally here in Indiana and went to see one up close and personal. It was nice (in my uneducated tractor opinion). But, before deciding to plunk down the $3999 for the 20HP, 2WD FarmPro, I decided to begin researching. I guess I've almost settled on a Jinma 2240 or 2540. They are still in my price range and will handle a 60" finish mower and an eventual FEL.

My reason for posting is...Does my situation sound like I need this kind of tractor. Again, I have 5 acres of former farm ground I am going to need to turn from wispy straw like grass to lawn, plow snow, and eventually acquire my front end loader to complete the landscaping of my new home.

My other dilemma is.... the FarmPro dealer is within 45 minutes of me, the Jinma is about 2 hours away. Should I go with the FarmPro because of potential service issues, or the Jinma? I like the Jinma better and want to go with the LE model.

Comments, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I think you can justify the jinma 4wd,loader in the future you will like the 4wd. and i think your right a ztr mower is alot off money that has no other use, where as the tractor would for more duties than you or i could think of siting here. the other dealer close to you can't get you a bigger 4wd. there both the same tractor, farm pro is just a rebadged jinma

I think it will work just fine for you. I have a Jinma 224 and do all of the things that you mentioned without any problem.

In case you didn't see them side by side, the 2240 is a smaller lighter tractor than the 2540. Inna nutshell, the 18/20/22 hp comprise the entry level, then the 25/28 hp size, followed by the 30/35, and on up.

Many folks don't recommend FELs on 2wd, especially if there's no power steering.

Being a Jinma owner, I can not stress strongly enough that QUALITY service after sale should be the #1 criteria for selecting from whom you ultimately purchase.

I would imigine that the 224 would be plenty of tractor for you're 5 acres of lawn. I would ge tthe Turf tires too if you plan on just having it for mowing and eventualy some snow removals. you can get chains for them but you shouldn't need them and a 4' brush hog and a 5' finish mower would be needed. If you can section off and burn the high stuff then you can probably get away with the finish mower only as long as you get a good one. the import mowers are too much problems. get one from a local sorce with parts, blades ect. like TSC or local store/dealer.

anyhow I got to fly.
