I'm looking at a Henry repeating rifle, lever action, .22rfm. In the store the action feels really smooth and seems to lock up tight. As anyone on TBN had any experience with this manufactor? Will the action stay smooth with normal maintenance? I plan on using it on rabbits and general plinking. Thanks Steve

I have heard that they seem to be good guns, but have not had my hands on one personally. I was also told that they are made somewhere in the former USSR. Could be wrong, but it was a reliable source.

Steve, I have 3 Henry lever action rifles...Golden Boy, standard and the Henry youth for my 8 year old grandson...the standard has fired many thousands of rounds and is still as good as new...the youth is rapidly catchin up...at a brick per weekend it won't take long /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Henry had a fit and finish problems a few years back, but I have never heard a complaint on the actions for the money /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Henry Repeating Arms are located and manufactured in Brooklyn, NY..and have the best customer service you can find.

I've got this gun that I carry in the farm truck all the time. It gets bounced around and is in the dust all time. Probably not cleaned enough either. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif It still shoot straight and works like a charm. I'd highly recommend it.

GareyD . . . I thought I read in one of the gun magazines that the new Henry rifles are made in Italy? I could be completely wrong. Just seem to recall it. Regardless, I don't own one so I'm not real sure, but the ones I've handled have be good quality arms and regardless of where they are made they sure seem like nice guns.

Bob...I haven't personally been to the plant in Brooklyn, NY to do a touchie-feelie, and have like you read that Henry rifles are made all over the world...

Having had one of the older (12-15 years ago) Henry's with the poor fit and finish, that I'm fairly certain was made out of country...I did a lot of research and shopping when I was looking for my 8 year old grandson's first "real" rifle...wanted it to be a keeper just like mine was...

According to the Henry web site all guns...sales, offices, sales, parts, stocks and assembly is done in Brooklyn /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Remember, you can't always believe what you read, but, I know for a fact that all the Henry's that I own are "Tack Drivers" /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif and it wont' be long before the boy is outshooting me! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Well I was apparently wrong about where Henry rifles are made. I will have to confront my "soource" . The fact that they are made in the good ol US makes me want one more now /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

My wife got me a Henry Model: H001 .22 LR for Christmas. I had spotted them while shopping in the reprehensible local Wal-Mart. She got the last one they had before Christmas. I prefer .22 LR over magnums because they are so much less expensive and will kill all the tin cans and paper targets I care to just fine. If I want more serious firepower I shoot one of my 7.62 X 39 powered rifles for the same money as .22 RFMs. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The lever action rifle is first rate in the quality of the wood, the finish of the metal, smoothness of its action, and accuracy. The only complaint I have with it is that the barrel-bands and front sight are plastic. I didn’t notice this until after I received it and was a little disappointed, but would not have changed my mind about wanting it even if I would have known beforehand.

I think I may have seen similar plastic on a more expensive Winchester model, but I am not sure of that.

Model: H001

BIGUN...you might want to get you some paintballs and lay them on the 1 1/2" edge of a 2x4 (I cut a small groove with a router)...lot's of fun to shoot and you don't have to wonder if you hit them or not... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
