I've been playing around with slug control for a while and have made up a number of videos. So far the electric fence works best but some people try other approaches. Here's the latest video.

Salt will stop them in there tracks..

I did not have luck with egg shells, plus I don’t eat enough eggs for a good supply. Coffee grounds I have boat loads of but never knew to try it.

So far it seems slugs do not crawl up our 12" treated raised bed boxes, find them evrywhere else around the place. Diametecious earth is the best I have found and it is benign to the good things around. Here in the PNW you have to renew it after every rain though. Neighbors cat ate one poisened by slug bait and it die also.

Wife puts a pie tin filled with beer.
It attracts them, they drown in it.

Slugs are not fazed by the treated wood in my raised bed - without the electric fence my veggies wouldn't have a chance. In the PNW, like here, the damper weather makes the difference in slug populations. Just checked my Youtube stats on the slug videos and over the last 28 days viewers have spend 23,700 mins watching just three of the slug videos. Most viewers are from the UK and other damp areas/countries. I think viewers from the PNW also spend a lot of time on the videos.

Yeah for sure... but salt isn't good for the soil.
You don't use enough to make a difference.

Lime or wood ashes works well, but you need to refresh it after it rains. Also keep the weeds down, or the little buggers will use them as a bridge. Try surrounding your garden with a coarse hemp rope, as it irritates their soft underbelly. I have also heard that if you put up two rows of electric fence, and put ducks in they will keep them cleaned up.

I was plagued with them the first few years I was here, they would start showing up before the snow was even completely melted.
I've had the most success going around every morning with a salt shaker, and keeping pans of beer for them to drown in. The former is time consuming, the latter required cleaning the pans of beer up every few days as they got full of slugs. It also helps to cover the pans so that they don't fill up when it rains.

Somewhere between the Pacific Ocean and here in Ea WA there is a "line in the sand". No slug will cross this line. My sister lived on the Oregon coast and had slugs the size of boa constrictors. Salt worked great but quite soon - nothing would grow where salt was used. She found that coffee grounds worked about half as well as salt.
