Here\'s pics of my baler belt cutter guard

Here's three different pictures of the front guard on my 5' KK brush hog. I just used some angle iron, baler belting, plumber's strap metal, and some self tapping sheet metal screws. Has been mowing all summer and working well. Contains the dust in the mower better than the chain model I built and posted before.

Tony, try an industrial supply house if there's one around. Someone at our gun club made a contact with one near here and they brought us a couple of skids of used conveyor belt to use as target backers on our indoor range. I cut it with a carbide blade in my circular saw. Making a full cut in one pass didn't work too well because the material wanted to grab the blade and heat it up. Best results were making 3 passes of increasing depth..............chim

Re: Here\'s pics of my baler belt cutter guard

Tony,
I just got mine from the scrap pile at an implement dealer. They were happy to get rid of it. I simply cut it with a heavy snips. It only had nylon cording in it. Strips of mudflap rubber would work too. Could probably even use the tread section without sidewalls off an old tire.

thanks, Nick! I hadn't even considered trying an implement dealer! Then again, I usually try to make things harder than they need be /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
