I am looking at a hesston 1095 haybine that is local and in excellent shape. It has steel on rubber rollers, and they are in great shape. The issue that the guy is having is with the chain driven reel. He broke the chain a few years ago, and has had issues with sprockets, and chain derailing ever since then. He even replaced the clutch linings on the reel clutch, but when it mows tall grass the reel slows down, and the chain derails. All bearing seem tight. Can you get a chain, or srockets still. Is this a good machine to invest in. Anyone else had reel issues with theses machines?

I am sure the parts, at least sprokets and chains are still available. Never used a heston but sounds like a bent sproket or shaft to me. Might run OK without load but work it and off she goes by the sounds.

Might be a good buy if its cheap. I buy a lot of equipment for scrap price, some gets fixed and used some just gets scrapped. If your handy sounds like a good project.
