Ford 1320 only makes one click then wont do any thing after taking out battery and reinstalling. Charged battery overnight. Same result. Dash lights came on before trying then after the click...nothing. replaced battery terminals and have 12v at starter. ( I accidently reversed polarity on battery connections and saw a little smoke...oops. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

How many volts are in the battery.

Are the grounds clean.

Sounds like a short to the starter or a bad ground to the frame... Check your connections to the solenoid and starter also for any damaged wiring possibly caused by the crossed terminals. Once the magic smoke gets out of those wires it's hard to get it back in. ;o)

Make sure the gear is in Neutral and tractor wheel chocked. Directly jump the starter by passing interlocks and potential bad connections to see if starter turns.
