So our corn is looking good one day, and tore up the next. Raccoon(s). I was able to salvage half a dozen ears from the first planting (just had it for supper, yum), but the raccoon(s) claimed the rest. I did plant several sections of corn at different times, so I have an opportunity to save the rest. I'm thinking about this solar electric fence from Harbor Freight, but I have zero experience with electric fences. The corn is in a small section, probably 20ft x 30ft, and it's too far from the house to run electricity.

Anyone have experience with the HF unit protecting a small garden against raccoons?

Any better suggestions?

Thanks
Keith

I purchased one of the Harbor Freight solar chargers. Be sure you buy the
warranty. They come with 90 days but i think for ten
bucks you get a year added on. My first one lasted two weeks but the
replacement is doing fine. Does a good job for a small area.

Not trying to spend your hard earned money. This is the solar charger I would recommend for you.Electric Fence Charger DF-SP-LI for Electric Fence
Just MHO from the little experience I have with fence chargers.Your on the right track going with solar power or ac.I find the battery powered units more trouble than what there worth. For the moment the company I reccommended to you has the best prices I have found on the web.Don't have a horse in their race.
If on a budget try doing a search for other opinions on the HF product.
Just based on what Fenix wrote I would not fool with it.
