Hi all,

New Cub Owner here!!! And I am in love. I have only owned 3 riding mowers in my life but I have a feel for most things. And after only mowing 2.7 hours (which is a normal routine once a week) This is the most solid mower I have owned. I mow 3 acres aprox. dunno exact amount but near 3 acres. And the terrarain is varied I have flat areas slopes hills and wooded areas and the 1050 LT handled it all gracefully. The mower I traded in for this one was a toro timecutter, that mower was great for tight spots, but that was about it, the cut quality was horrible the weight of the mower was poor and overall maintinece was a pain. Before that I had a mtd traditional tractor 46" cut(dont remember model wasnt important, the mower was all green if that helps) which actually I liked alot but the trans went out and I traded it for the driveway I have right now (dont ask lol). But anyway I am a new cub owner and I Love my cub 1050. (and yeah I already know its not a gt! blah, blah, blah) dont need a gt have a real tractor (ford 640 which is more than I need). All I want is a good quality mower and I have finally found it. I think my point of this whole rant is the fact that when I first sat in the seat of the cub it just felt solid and when I mowed, it only confirmed my first impression.

I mowed my lawn in according to cubs hour meter in 2.7 hours, which would have taken me close to 4 hours with my zero turn 42" mower. (and if you are asking how is that possible I asked myself the same question) and the conclusion I came too was that the 50" deck outperforms the manuverability of the 42" zero turn. Also I found that with the reverse mowing (revtek) the manuverability was not as big a diff as it was with my first mower (in which I had too disengage the pto and then put it in reverse and then move and then reverse the order). yeah I know I am ranting. I am just very pleased with cub and want to share my experiance, I hope veterans and newbies like me can take something positive from this post.

Howdy Sabe!!! Welcome to the group. I am sure you will be pleased with your new machine. I too think CC's are solid machines. Again, welcome and keep us informed with your experiences.

It's great to see happy 1000 series owners! CC has got to sell 10x as many 1000's as they do anything else. I think they are a great machine for the money.

G/luck

welcome sabe. i too have a 1000 series cub i have the 1042 model and ive been very happy with mine every since i picked it up from the dealer. i have around 17hrs on it now. the only thing that has been a problem on mine is the bolts on the deck that hold the tension springs. one of them broke in two they used a poor quality bolt. butt i took care of that i bought some high strength bolts to replace all of them so that wont happen again.its a great mower it cuts very nice and drives very good. i was shocked at how good the turning radius is and how much the front end pivots. i enjoy mowing now i find myself going slower so i can enjoy the ride longer. enjoy

Thanks for all the welcomes!!

I truly feel this is the last mower i will own. and IHCUB no mower is perfect and since your prob was just bolts I would consider that a blessing. And I dont want to step on any toes but brand wise we are ahead :) thanks agin for the welcomes.

I am also a new Cub owner -- I just bought a 1045 LE last week from my local dealer and have already cut my lawn twice. My dealer had a 1045 with the single cylinder Kohler on the showroom, and I was trying to decide if the twin in the 1046 next to it was worth $200. The owner then told me that they had three 1045s still in the crates out back that had the twin Kohler, and he said that it was probably a little better on gas, so I went with that one. They did charge $100 more for the twin than the single, but I felt it was reasonable to split the difference between the 1045 and 1046. I got my dad to bring his trailer the next morning, they gave me a blue CC hat and two CC key chains for the two keys and off we went. My early impressions are that I love the way it runs and the way it handles. I have a few slopes on my lawn (1.5 acres) and it seems to have no problems pulling up these. The only thing I am concerned about is that the deck doesn't seem to be level; I am getting a series of strips where the right side of the deck passes and meets the left side cut of the next lap. I have tried leveling the deck according to the manual and may try again. Other than that I love the machine and look forward to using it for a long time.
