Hi from Herefordshire, England

Hi All,

I own a small farm in Herefordshire, one of the most beautiful (but rural and least populated) counties in England. I work full time and so maintain the land and tend to the animals in my "spare" time. We have some great small farm (sometimes called "smallholdings") forums in the UK, but not much about tractors! So I am hoping to get some tractor and implement related tips. Like many of you (I guess), I am a nut for tools and all things mechanical. I currently have an older 35HP Tym tractor, but am waiting on delivery of my new Kubota L4240, hopefully within the next week.

Howdy from Texas. When I was little, my first calf was a Hereford. I have loved the breed ever since. Welcome and congrats on the new toy, eh........tractor.

Well the breed is still going strong here in their "home" county, in fact my neighbour keeps Hereford cattle. Over the last few years though a lot have been replaced by charolais and charolais cross.

Welcome from Virginia, hope you enjoy the new tractor. My dad used to milk a hereford cow. I know that it is a beef breed but my dad saw a big udder and started milking her. Took a little work to get her to see that she was now a milk cow but it worked out well and we had milk to drink. Ed

I have lost track of all the new, exotic breeds that have been bred into existence. I like American Bison for eating. I don't have enough room to raise them at this time.
