I work at a road construction company, and one time, one of our small dozers.. D3 or D4.. was stuck in a marshy area, and we pulled it out with a big long chain, and an 80hp 2wd large John Deere farm tractor, situated just outsid ethe muddy area.... worked better than we expected.
Used the tractor again later that year... The owner of the company had an air boat, and brought it out to one of our jobs that was along the intercostal, anyway, he towed the boat with an isuzu trooper... anyway, the place where he let the boat in proved too steep to get the boat out, and the isuzu trooper was actually sliding into the water, boat and trailer attatched... the tractor had little problem with that situation too.
The only other occasion I can remember us using the tractors to pull other motorized vehicles was when we were excavating some muck from a drainage retention area, and the pan ( large articulated drop-belly earth mover ) would stick halfway through its run. We hitched the John Deere, and a ford 3000 to the front of the pan to assist it. Worked fairly well.
