ok,I am new to "tractoring" my chinese tractor is 25hrse 4w benye. it has a front h/l gear and a rear h/l gear. while hogging in a decent speed of movement I could not get a decent cut. If I ride at a crawl speed it cuts ok. Then I tried high on the front gear and low in the rear and decent traveling speed and this seems to be optimum.
Is this ok to run or do they both have to be in high or low to prevent tractor dammage?? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

First off, I assume you don't mean front being 4WD. On Jinma's the front H/L is the creeper transmission. Next are you running in the green on the tach? The rotary cutter works best at 540RPM. There is probably a mark on the Tach indicating the correct RPM for 540RPM PTO speed. Again on Jinma's the tach has a green band for that speed. Next are you in the 540 range on your PTO? If all this is true, any gear you select will be OK. Any of the main transmission gears can be used as well since you did not say what gear you were in I am guessing 3rd.
