High Definition torch for Hypertherm 85

Go to the Hypertherm website and lookup "fine cut." The exact parts will be slightly different depending upon the torch you are using and whether it is handheld or a machine torch.
Once on the website, go to "Consumbles and Torches" click on the "Powermax and <125 amp plasma systems" link on the left side of the page. At the top of the page will be a box that says, "Browse our entire torch and consumble catalog." Click on the "Download Catalog" button.
That will open a PDF with all of they Hypertherm torches in ascending order starting with 30 amp equipment. Page through the catalog until you find the torch for the unit you have and then find the "fine cut" parts for that torch.

No, I am not talking about fine cut consumables for my machine torch.
I cut over 6000" yesterday with the fine cut consumables.
I will cut over 1mil inches this year and keep $500+ in consumables in stock.
The setup I saw and talk to the people about was a high definition torch, that they had on their hypertherm 85.
It was at the end of the day and I had a 3 hour drive home. I seen the torch, ask what kind it was and they said a "high definition torch". It look very different ( short/fat ) from my machine or hand held torch.
That was the reason I stop and ask about it. They also said it took a different type of consumables than what I use.

Ask this question over on the welding Web site. A gentlemen by the name Jim Colt is from Hypertherm and helps people with the units. Jim's a great guy.

It has an extra air path for machine torches. Approaches laser cut quality. Pretty rare. There was a big push to sell those in the 1990s. You're going to need to call the factory.

I thing this was more of a hybrid setup, not true High Definition, but close.
The cut from it looked about twice as good as what my PM 85 does. It has the standard machine torch on it.

Cabin, did you ever find what you are looking for? I second the idea of getting in touch with Jim Colt. Met him at Fabtech Las Vegas show and I was impressed with his knowledge and experience. Actually, I bought a 45Max because I was able to play with it at the show thanks to Jim and company.
