I'm adding a high flow circuit to my skid steer and I want to match industry standard couplers. I don't know if this would be 1/2" or if I should be stepping up to 3/4"? For some reason I suspect many machines are using 1/2" couplers on their high flow circuits.

What's the flow and size of your lines?

I have never seen anything other than 1/2" on any skid loader or attachment.

I am sure it may choke a high flow down a tad.....but being able to swap attachments would be troublesome with different size couplers.

IF its all your attachments and you have something that needs as much flow as you can give it.....look at the couplers specs from whatever MFG you choose....size accordingly. ANd if that happens to be bigger than the standard 1/2".....you can make some adapters if you ever rented a something and needed the smaller couplers.

1/2" Flat Face couplers are considered to be standard flow. 3/4" couplers are generally used in "high flow" applications. There are a range of coupler sizes just like most styles.

I've already looked up the gpm vs recommended coupler size for the pressure drop and know what size is recommended. However, I deliberately omitted this information so as to not sway the responses. What I wanted to know is what the industry standards are.

Skid steers and CTL's with the high flow option typically have a pair of couplers for standard flow and a pair for high flow applications as well as a case drain connection. The couplers pairs are manifolded to a single pair of supply tubes.

I would size it based on your flow needs - likely 3/4.

You can make an adapter for your older attachments if you have a lot of them, or simply change them over.

What attachment are you upgrading the machine for? A gehl 6635 would not be a great choice for a mulcher head, cold planer on the other hand.
1/2” for sf and 3/4” for hf
