I just bought a bagger for my new 2550 and I tried it out yesterday and didnt have very good luck. The lawn was really long and half of it was seeded about 6 weeks ago and the rye grass really clumps up. The shoot off of the deck clogged really fast. I went slow, but it still clogged. The dealer recommended high lift blades, but I thought I would try it with the stock blades first. Do the high lift blades really make a big difference, or was the grass too long? Do they work well without the bagger? Thanks

You got it. The grass cannot be too high if you plan to bag. It's gotta be fairly low and dry.

I have a 3235 with 54 inch deck and bagger. The 54 deck is much better than my old 44A deck for not clogging and buildup underneath. I have the high lift blades and if the grass is short and damp it will bag OK but if the grass is long and wet - forget it. I can make 1 pass around my 1 acre yard and nothing goes in the bags. The deck and chute will have almost 1 full bag of grass stuck in them and require removal and cleaning every pass, at which time I usually remove the bagger. Long dry grass is hit or miss depending on how long it is.

You need three high lift blades. They recommend them for a reason. Do not bag wet grass; mow it first; let it dry and remow with bagger.

The Hi-Lift blades work so much better with the bagger. I have learned that the grass must be dry and you cannot bag if it is too long, especially if you cut it short.
I use my bagger more in the fall when the grass is dry and for leaves. If the grass is really long I mow it first then put the bagger on the remow after a few days.
I wish Cub Cadet would come up with a set up like John Deere has with the fan that attaches to the discharge chute.

I was going to try waiting a day or two and then bagging like you said. I guess I will invest in the high lift blades. Do they work well without the bagger?
