Ghost River Retrievers
Bronze Member
As you can surmise from the name, I'm a retriever guy. We bought a place in Benton County a couple years ago primarily for training our dogs because the public places that I was training got over-run by joggers, walkers, bike riders, pic-nickers, kite flyers, etc. Anyway, it was the best decision that we have ever made.
The place has a 6+/- acre pond, which is surrounded by pasture. There are a few pine trees scattered throughout the interior of the place, and a bunch of trees growing on the edges. Although my neighbor cuts and bales the hay, I maintain the areas that he doesn't cut (e.g., around the pond) and clean up the place to keep it in good shape for dog training. About 4 months ago I bought a NH TC35 (2003 model with 660 hours on it) so I'd quite abusing the ZTR that I'd been treating as a bush hog. With a real Bush Hog and FEL, I'm getting along pretty well, although I'm currently in the market for a sickle mower (backing up to cut around the lake is okay EXCEPT on the dam ... I need that sickle mower). I'll be looking for other stuff as well, with my mind considering a big garden, dove field, food plot for the deer, etc.
So if you have questions about retriever training, let me know ... 'cuz in trade, I'll be asking plenty of how-to questions about tractors, attachments, implements, and the such.
