I'm in the market for hilling attatchments for 3 pt hitch. As well as onion/garlic planter and harvester for 3 pt. Anyone know where to get such items? Or make them?
Cultivators?

"Hilling" attachments are most commonly referred to by my farmer neighbors as "bedders" in my area, which means a two (or more) bottom double buster (wish I had such)./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I don't know what size tractor you have. Big implements are common at the dealers in this area, but Stanton Small Implment, Stanton, TX, makes the small ones.

JonE, I'm a small scale garlic grower in East-Central Missouri and still harvest and plant by hand. However I have my eye on the opportunity for growth into some mechanized processes. In the May 2000 "Growing for Market" newsletter there was an ad from Ferrari Tractor CIE. selling a potato harvester which could be used for garlic and other similar bulbs and tuber. The price was $2100 and is a 3ph impliment. You can contact Ferrari Tractor at 530-846-6401 and they are located in Gridley CA.

If you find any planting impliments please let me know.

Around Wausau/Marathon/Mosinee/Edgar/Fenimore WI they grow ginseng (good for flat feet, poor sex life and Florida real estate values) and several dealers weld-up special 3 pt. devices for 'hilling'. Buetsch Implement ,2895 County Rd. S/Marathon WI ,715 443 2276 has used ones on the lot. also Gertschen Imp. 609 4th. Marathon WI, 715443 2192; Marathon Equip. 3301 Hwy WW Wausau,WI 715 675 2391 These make 6-8 " mounds about 12" wide with a gully about 10-12 apart

Bird, look in your garage and you'll know what size tractor I have. Probably would've been easier to just say B2710 but I like to be evasive./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
What if I took 2 mould-boards with opposite angles and positioned them to push the dirt towards each other? Do they make different angle mould-boards?

JonE, I've never seen a "left handed" moldboard, but of course, that doesn't mean they don't exist. In my black clay, a 2710 would have a hard time pulling a two bottom moldboard very deep if it were in ground that has not been previously cultivated, but in ground that has been plowed or tilled, a two bottom double buster, or bedder, would be no problem.
