Hinomoto C174 brake set/lock

I'm a new student to the world of compact tractors. Is there a brake set for my Hinomoto C174 somewhere that I haven't found yet?

Sitting in the driver's sear, look to the left of the transmission hump under the dash. There should be a spring loaded lever.

You're gonna have to help me out here, . . . . that looked like a clutch pedal lock to me! I was aware of that one. BTW: How far away from Asheville are you?

On mine there was a lever on the right side, just above the transmission hump. It turned a rod that went to the left side where there was a spring loaded ratchet that locked/unlocked the brake pedals.

There should also be a clutch lock behind the clutch pedal. Mine had a wire loop that could be pulled over the depressed clutch pedal.

There is a triangular bellcrank type piece of metal with teeth on one side. There is a short lever towards the driver. This lever can't be seen from the driver's seat when in up (ON) position. It is on the clutch side just under the cowl panel. You step on the brake and lift the lever to engage. I sold mine with the manuals so I can't send you a picture. I'm 25 miles southwest of Asheville.

Go to this website: Simplicity - Lawn Tractors

When it asks for the Manufacturing Number, type in this number: 2097355

That will take you to a page where you will then be able to download (for free) the Operator's Manual and the Parts Manual for your Hinomoto C-174. The manuals will be listed as Allis-Chalmers 5015 / Simplicity 9518. These were American models of the Hinomoto C-172 and C174 series tractors. They may not be exact, but they'll be at least 98% the same.

I did too. I spent $50 4 months ago on a 5015 parts manual.

I was reading the post about the manufacturers number and the manual site. was wondering if the hinomoto c-144 has a manuf. number and if an operators manual download is available through the simplicity site? thanks a lot!!!
