Hinomoto E2004 Tach Readin erratic over 1500 rpm?

I have a e2004 hinomoto and the tach seems to work up to around 1500-2000 then it jumps up to 3000 looks to be new tach cable looks like the routing is a little rough not sure what it is..

has 250hrs. suggestions other than tach cable broke?

The outer cable housing may be kinked, cut or need lubricating.

My tach cable was broke in my E2004 where the cable bends upward under the dash. I bought a new one at Napa, and I have the part number in my files if you need to buy a new one.

The hour meter cable is Napa part number 615-1796 ($9). That is a universal speedometer cable with the properly sized square end to fit the hour gauge. Cut the cable to length and crimp on the proper piece for the engine side of the cable. Napa could also order the crimp on piece. I reused the old crimp on piece to save making another trip to Napa.
