Cajun,

You are getting fuel, whether it is at the right time or not may be subject to debate, but there is fuel. Diesels also need air. Did the filter collapse or something else block the air flow to the engine? On the 2 cycle Detroits they even have an emergency shut off which is just a flap in the blower inlet that cuts off the air. Not recommended shut off but works. If you try to start it with the flap closed you get "rich sooty smoke and kind of putput but no bang to start like usual." Simple but check it out. Sometimes the simple things are what stumps us.

I am thinking---Make sure there is no obstruction in the intake right up to the manifold. There was a mechanic who had a turbo off a Cat scraper and had stuffed a rag in the outlet pipe from the turbo to keep dirt out (good thing), but forgot to take it out when he put the new turbo on (bad thing). We found the rag blocking the intercooler.

Well if you have air and black indicates fuel there is only one other major thing to make a diesel go and that is heat from compression.

Tell me a bit about the history. How long have you owned the tractor, how many hours, where did you get the tractor, and any interesting history prior to this incident.

I am not familiar at all with Hinomoto so do not know anything about the timing or pressures. You have a good spray pattern at the nozzles? Maybe a compression check is in order. Specifically check for a leak between cylinders. ie pressurize one and listen for a leak to a second adjacent.

I checked the forum and see that you were having heating and coolant problems. I suspect that you are leaking significant compression between cylinders and that is why.

Hey, thanks for all the info. Found the problem blown head gasket
between 2&3 cylinder. less than 100 lb compression on 2&3
410 lb on number 1cyl. blew air in number 2 & air came out number
3cyl. pulled head and big hole in gasket.
Now where do I find a replacement head gasket,MF 1030,Duetz 5230,
hinimoto 2304 are all the basic same engine. by the way had this
tractor 8 months never worked on a diesel before, not as hard as I
thought it would be!
