Hinomoto N209 vs. Kubota GL-21

I found an N209 w/ approx. 900 hours for $5150 and a GL-21 w/ 1127 hours for $6400. I like them both, they are both 4WD, power steering, shuttle shift and both have the hydraulic tilt on the 3PH.

The GL looks to be in much better shape as I believe it is probably newer than the N209 but looks aren't everything I know. The GL looks like it is a little more refined but I can't say how for sure. Just looks more finished.

Anyway, here some pics of the machines as I found them today. I test rode both and the GL-21 felt more open and accomodating to my 5'11'/225 lb. frame. The seat on the N209 was mechanical and very nice though.

Layout was a toss up. I didn't really like the Hino's gear selector on the steering column though. I think the GL-21 had a 5 speed PTO w/ reverse, though I'm not sure I'd ever need it.

Anyway, I'm making an offer on one of these tomorrow, probably the GL-21. Thought I would solicit some opinions.

No one has any opinions? Are these rare?

I figured the N209 would be pretty common but I could understand about the Zen Noh since I think it is relatively newer.

My first impression was those are nice looking tractors. I then asked myself why Hinomoto? They are good, strong and reliable buy not as well supported as other grey's.

My opinion may be slightly biased as I have worked on a tractor (Hinomoto & Toyosha-Allis Chalmers) that I could not get parts for. Are you partial to that manufacturer? Or are they just priced significantly less than other more popular and well supported models? They are out of business making tractors...and parts are somewhat scarce for many models.

I just bought a n N239 this week. This makes my 4th Hinomoto that I own at the present. I have had very little need for parts and I have had a couple of these tractors for years. I had a water pump to leak. NAPA sent it off and rebuilt it for $53 including shipping. An oil guage quit working. I matched a sending unit at NAPA. $6.49. A tachometer cable broke. Bought a refill for a speedometer at Auto Zone. Fit perfect. Go with the Hinomoto as I understand Kubota dealers will treat you like you have the plague.

Mark, what parts couldn't you find?
