I visited the Tractor Outlet in Bonners Ferry, Idaho yesterday, and spent most of the afternoon there talking tractors. They have a Hinomoto N247 4X4 tractor there that I am planning to buy, unless I hear some bad news here.

Here's what I can tell you about the tractor. It's supposed to be about a 1988 model, has 1400 hours, 28 engine HP, shuttle shift, power stearing, aux hydraulics on the 3-point. It comes with a loader, set up for quick change attachments on the fel.

I'll be using this tractor for road building, maintenance and snow removal (about 3/89 mile), back filling and grading around our house when we build, and cleaning up the property (20 acres) and skidding logs.

What can anyone tell me about this tractor? The dealer comes across as very straight forward, they have inspected the clutch and brakes, done a compression test and changed all fluids and filters. The rig was very clean, and looked to me to be well built. I know nothing about Hinomoto tractors, little enough about any. Is this a good rig, especially for my use? Also, what would be a fair price to pay, and does anyone have experience with this dealer.

Thanks in advance.

Brian

I believe you must mean the Hinomoto N249. My records indicate that the N249 was first available in 1988 and was still in the lineup for the last year I have information - 1990. I have an acquaintance who just got an N209 and so far is very happy with it. The Hinomoto tractors are built as well as any of the imports.

I know nothing about Tractor Outlet - perhaps some others can provide information.

Thanks for the info Greg, the model info was provided by the dealer (in writing), this doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling if they are unsure of the proper one. Do you have an on-line lead to the Hinomoto models and what they represent?

I really like the looks of this rig, looks to be well built, I hope all is well with it.

Thanks again.

According to his web site he has an N249D in stock, but no picture. Have no idea how current that inventory is.

Hinomoto is a great tractor. I have 3 and wouldn't trade them for anything.

I just bought an N209, and I really happy with it so far. The shuttle shift still requires you to use the clutch to change gears, but it does have the forward/reverse shifter on the left hand side of the steering column that will be very nice once I get a FEL installed.

I would get the parts manual at the time of purchase and get the information to purchase all of your filters. I have some information for some of the parts importers, but you will need the parts manual to determine the part numbers. I think at least one of the N series models has a filter that is unavailable in the USA.

On mine, the computerized three point hitch was really slick, however, the computer kept locking up. I ripped all the sensors and the computer off, and now I just use two manual switches for up/down and tilt.

Well, I've decided to go ahead and get the rig. Greg, you were right, it is a N249, not the 247, the dealer gave me new info tonight. It is supposed to be a '89 model. Hope to have it by the weekend, will post pics then. Htiek, this one has the computerized stuff removed, also with just a toggle for the angle link. I have alot to learn.

I'm getting a 5' box blade with it, as well as a 7' angle blade for the FEL-figure I'll give that a good workout plowing snow.

Can't wait for the new toy. Lots of work for it, the driveway is a mess right now.

Thanks for the advice.

Well, there is a delay, they had to order a part for the hydraulic system. Should be in any day.

In the meantime, I can look at the pic (attached).
