Has anyone ever had hip replacement surgery done in another country, in particular the Caymen Islands ?

Wait lists are causing thinking outside the box.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

I see that you're in Canada. I've heard that some of your countrymen come to the U.S. for surgery rather than wait, so that appears to be true. I had a total hip replacement in May and my wait was about one week after I decided it was time.

I hope you can get somewhere to obtain the relief I know you want. Please keep us informed and good luck.

Wife had both done (6 weeks apart) this past summer and second one 5 weeks prior to our daughterscwedding on the beach. She walked down the isle and was able to get in the ocean with help. Her wait time was less than two weeks. Years of pain and suffering gone..

Isn't that the truth. took almost 6 months to see the specialist now another 8-12 months to get surgery and that's travelling to another hospital out of the mainstream. If i had wanted to stay local it would have been 1-2 years.
Now I was informed that the surgeons or time has been cut from 3 a day to 2. Heath care sucks..............Mike

I will add that my wife was going from doctor to doctor, in a wheel chair at this point, (she could walk 50 feet) with each being at least 2 weeks to get in. A week to get in and then to order tests, x-rays, and then to say they weren't sure so they wanted her to see a different 'specialist'. After a few months and 5 injections trying to isolate the problem I told her this is enough and call ortho Indy. She called and asked if she needed a referal? They said no and made appointment for the following week and asked her to bring all her x-rays. She took a day off work and went to get all of the x-rays and MRI that was done. Appointment day I handed them to the nurse and she said we don't need MRI. 5 min later she came back, handed me the x-rays and said they weren't good enough and took my wife back for their own. By the time she returned, the x-ray was on the computer screen. The doctor walked in and pointed to the problem (dysplasia - and it was obvious, and bad ) and said he didn't see how she wasn't there 10 years ago. Wife wanted fixed NOW and they did surgery in less than two weeks. Ortho Indy specializes in hip replacements. The doctor does over 40 a month. She had zero complications...
Bottom line is skip the mickey mouse doctors and go the the ones who specialize in this..

I am one of those people who've had two knee replacements, as well as, one hip replaced.

I feel your pain as well as your exasperation with "The System".

No amount of money is worth the pain of one more day without relief.

Go to where ever you can get the replacement. It's worth every penny!

BTW, the Mrs was born in Kingston.

Yep, we know gears up there all too well.
