Hi all,

I have ordered an electric selector valve from Surplus Center:

and it says it uses a Hirschmann connector for the electrical portion to the
solenoid valve:

Is anyone familiar with this type of connector? I don't know if the wire goes in the top (with hole) or the side with the threaded plug, or how many wires go into the connector. One or two, meaning I would need to order two of these things to make the connections to the solenoid. If anyone is familiar with how these connectors work I am all ears.

You will only need one. The wire goes through the compression "nut" on the end, then the nut can be tightened to make a weather resistant seal. You should use a round jacketed wire (like a extension cord) for a good seal. 18/2 SO cord would be perfect-and is available at Home Cheapot or Lowe's.

Thanks Kenny D. I was hoping you would know how this thing works. My next question is how are the connections made with the wire/cable that I insert
thru the compression nut? I am guessing the bottom of the plug pulls out and you make the connections and then reinsert. I was a little confused when looking at the SurplusCenter pdf catalog as it says two are required for each solenoid?!

You only need one since this is a diverter valve-there is only one solenoid. If it was a regular solenoid valve-then you would need two. The hole in the top is for a screw to hold it on the valve, I tried to find instruction online but could not...You can handle it:thumbsup:
