Or some call them hair pins. Does anyone know where you can get hitch pins with a big loop. I want to be able to stick my finger with gloves on into the hole and pull the pin. I hate having to get a pair of pliers every time I want to pull a pin. I've checked Northern, Harbor freight. Farm and fleet. Even if I had to buy a pack of 50 it would be worth it.

Try your local flea market, ours has all sizes
Jim:)

Get some small diameter cordage (like kermantle 12 strand) available at sailing shops, rock climbing shops, or arborist supply and tie a lanyard loop with a hitch knot on the pin. That cordage is strong stuff and the hitch knot would keep it from moving on the pin ring. Just an idea.

I feel your pain. It is aggravating dealing with small looped pins, but the larger the loop, the more chance it will catch on something and get snatched out. This is not good. If you feel you have to have some, make your own. Knock the flux off of a welding rod, and bend it into shape. This is how I make a spring type holder for my torch striker. I bend welding rod like this, then put my striker on it, hang on belt loop when using torch, hang on guages when not in use. I think you could make smaller to do what you want.

I got mine at the "big loop hitch pin store". They just opened one up where I live.

I spent 4 years of my life playing army. (1964/1968) I spent those 4 years training for an invasion of South Korea by the North. A lot of the training was based upon operating in extreme cold, snowy, inhospitable conditions. (And I was just glad to be anywhere except Viet Nam) I was assigned to an artillery unit. Anyone who's had any experience with tank or artillery shells can tell you about the evil, nasty little spring clip that holds their shipping container closed. Try removing one of them with gloves AND Army issue extreme cold weather mittens on. (Shoot! Try simply relieving yourself with all that on) What we did was apply some "farm boy fix" to the problem. We used a small hook, very similar to a hay hook to grab and pull those pins. (One fellow in my battery even had his hook sewed to the back of his mitten)

I can pull my pins with gloves on. Pins and clips came from local tractor supply store. You can also get them from a place that sells truck snow plows.
Or you can just make yourself a pulling hook you could store in your tractor tool box.
