hitch receiver added to box blade

Been wanting to do this project for some time and finally got it done. I added this 24'' receiver tube I picked up on Ebay for $20. I had the steel for the gusset on my garage shelf. Since then I have painted it Landpride Tan and used it a bunch. I like the fact that I don't have to leave the seat to pick up and drop trailers. I also like the fact that I don't have to drop the box blade to pull my arena drag. I realize this has been done before but this is the one I made, Thanks.

Very nice, I want to put something like that on my loader bucket, just need to find a receiver tube.

BTW, if you did that with a 120volt MIG, you may want to keep that info to yourself. :laughing: :laughing:

I used one of the old bolt-on-the-bumper reese receivers that had been laying around for years and attached it to the uppermost part of the blade. Bolted, welded, and braced. Been waiting for a chance to lay the paint on it before snapping some pictures.

I like the way you went through the blade and butted into the forward crossmember. That is sure to be extremely strong. Have you used it to use much wet material? I'd be interested to know if you get much wet material hanging on it.

Have not dragged it through the wet stuff yet but I imagine there will be some clinging on for sure....free ballast! Haha,,,might have to take the power washer to it once in a while. Thanks for all the replies and comments.

Nice work... very clean install. Hope it doesn't make the box 'pack up' with material, as mentioned above, should be minimal. I like the idea, but would flush the end of the reese*with the back of the blade for my own use, as the protruding tube would inhibit my use when pushing logs and such. The locking pin would then be inside the box, but no biggie. Would also get the lifting point closer to the tractor, which would increse lift capability, an issue with my underpowered 3005.

If you do end up pushing dirt, be sure to plug the reese tube, or you have a nice 2"x2" dirt plug!
