What is the difference between CAt 1 And CAT 2 Hitches?
Its my understanding its the spread of the arms. Will Cat 1 implements fit in Cat 2 hitch?

There may be some difference in the width, depending on arm length, however the real difference is in the diameter of the hole in the 'ball'. Yes,a cat 1 implement will fit a cat 2 lift arm if you use bushings that are made for this adapation. They are available at TSC of most Ag dealers for about $1.50. You could use them without bushings, but I would not recommend it.
A cat 2 implement will not fit on a cat 1 lift arm. You can also change the lift pins on the implement if you want or need/want to.

Try this link on TractorSmart.com and scroll to the bottom of the page for the actual dimensions. The pin diameters, lift arm spread and vertical height between lift pin and top link pin are different, so it's not just pin (hole) size.

Lenarguy, is correct.
It has more to do with the size of the pins on the implement. A kind of inputted safety control. The thought is on a smaller tractor the work limitations are going to be much less than a full size tractor. By placing the larger cat. pins on heavier implements, they will not fit nor should they be used on underpowered/undersized tractors. And yes you could change out the size of the pins to make a cat. 2 implement fit a cat. 1 rated tractor, but then your next post may just have a topic line such as,"Is it the clutch or rear end that blew"
The spread of the three point arms has much more to do with the size of the tractor frame.

The spread of the lift arms is just one of several factors that determine the category of the hitch. Granted, cat 2 and cat 3 hitches are typically used on larger frame tractors but there is no reason why they can't be used on smaller frame tractors too.
