I bought a new Hobart Ironman 230 at Tractor Supply in Uniontown PA back in April 2010. I used it probably 4 times since then. I put a new roll of .035 wire on it and I noticed it was't pushing the wire out like it should kind of a bind. When I got it it had a 10lb spool on it and I put a 33 LB spool of .035 on it and thats when the trouble started. I put another 10 LB spool on and it works fine. Anyone ever had that issue before? It handles the 10lb spools fine but not the 33 LB spools. Anyone else had that issue?

Make sure the wire size is the same. Not common but have seen some cheaper wire that was oversize and/or labelled wrong. Also check that the wire feeds off the spool straight into the wire guide before the drive rolls. Usually unrolling from the bottom. Some feeders the spool hub can be adjusted up and down for different size spools.

Larger spools have more mass to get turning. Might need to tighten the drive rollers.

Smaller spools may need less friction on the spool hub, due to the smaller diameter giving less 'leverage' aganst the hub.
