Well today when I was brush hogging with the MF 573 I backed up and caught the corner of my plow and punctured the rear tire :mad::mad:, it is a 16.9x30 Good Year Dyna Torque II.

I have attached a pic of the hole, I am wondering if you guys have ever had a hole like this patched and tire tubed? I have punctured the top and done this but never a sidewall

Thanks Mike

I would check out a tire boot and maybe a tire reliner, from maybe Gemplers,as expensive as tires are it would be worth a try.

Mike, I won't say it can't be done, but I'd be surprised if you could find a tire shop that would even try to fix that; too much flexing in the sidewall makes it nearly impossible for any patch to hold. Personally, I wouldn't waste any time trying to fix that. It's just time for a new tire.

Maybe a commercial tire place and foam fill the rears.

Patch it & then put a tube in it? The patch won't be durable on a sidewall, but a tube would keep it inflated properly.

Glue in a boot and throw in a tube, assuming the tire is not already near the end of its life and worth repairing.

heck I have seen tires bolted together with steel straps still out there mowing.

Got a 16.9-30 on a Ford 4000 that had a similar problem. We have a local tire shop that was able to make what looks like a hot patch. I did not get to observe the process but it looks like he melted rubber and filled in the hole sort of like welding. That repair has been in place for many years without any issue.

If tire still had good tread I would attempt repair. If doesn't work out hopefully you wouldn't be out too much. The tube however seems the easiest solution.

I've had 2 tires over the years that had similar punctures and had success using boots and tubes. They are still holding up.

glue the flap closed and let cure.

install a large farm patch ont he inside of the casing.
