Hi - I have an 05 Featherlite 4 horse gooseneck horse trailer that I've had for 5 years, and use it 2 times a year hauling horses 1000 miles each time over 2 days each time. I've not keep up my floor inspections like I should have and pulled the mats today and the last stall has several areas of corrosion and 3 small holes less than 1/2 inch in diameter. So my questions are, what do I do with the corrosion and holes now and what do I do to prevent more?? My buddy just had the entire floor of his 4 horse sprayed with a commercial bed liner. I'm thinking the raptor spray in liner maybe the way to go just doing the last stall rather than the whole thing as there is no evidence of problems in any but the last stall and the mat goes over it so my good or not so good job will not be noticeable but should protect it from further corrosion.
Has anyone had horse trailer floor issues? What did you do?? Open to suggestions. Obviously I know now to be more diligent in preventive inspections. Thanks for any help. Bill

Many years ago we removed the mats and rubber from the sides and took our 4 horse to Line-X. They sprayed it with bed liner for about $500. Worked good.

Most of the new ones come with bed liner on the aluminum floor.

I just purchased a 1 year old trailer with aluminum flooring. I'm thinking of treating it with auto undercoating to prevent the corrosion. I'll still use the mats to protect the undercoating and for cushioning. Has anyone tried this? The new trailers are using WERM flooring. I've read that the pickup bedliners material will not hold up to horses hoofs especially with shoes.

If you are using mats, the bedliner holds up just fine.

Sundowner started spraying them with bedliner at the factory after the dealer saw ours.
