IMHO.. oily clutch grab and don't release well.. vs slipping. Worn clutches slip.

Keep the drain vent open and the oil will drip out like ford intended it to.

bailing wire a tuna can under there to cath the oil and keep the concrete pretty.

I'm guessing you've not dropped a pan on a 134/172 ci engine, side by side with a hyd top cover rebuild recently.

The front 2 bolts onthe oil pan are nicely warded necescitating a little bit of disassembly up front to get that pan off. The hyd top cover is straight forward wrench work.. if you can lift 80# you can pop the top scrap and clean and drop in new orings and a gasket and go pretty darn quick.

nope talking about the easy job of changing the seal between the trans and the hyd sump (rear trans seal) and the seal between the hyd sump and the rear end-----you have not fixed the hyd system unless you do that----you just put a BAND-AID on it!:)

Since he's leaking out the bellhousing drain, which is at the FRONT of the tranny, he's either got a leaky rear main seal, or a leaky trans input shaft seal.

I fail to see how your comments of changing seals all AFT of the tranny will address either a rear main seal leak.. or a 3$ trans input shaft seal leak??

Your bandaid comment? well.. uh.. I think you are sticking the bandaid in the wrong place...

I don't want to alarm you, but I'm of the opinion that if it is in fact the rear main leaking and gets worse, it may saturate the clutch. The flywheel will sling that oil around the clutch housing and when it gets soaked enough, it'll start dripping on the clutch. Worst case, the clutch starts slipping and you'll be facing a clutch replacement besides the seal.

.

Even if the clutch had some normal wear on it, if it was me, if I had to split the tractor to replace th seal I would replace the clutch whether it needed it or not.

At least check it anyway if you are going to the trouble for a split!
