I AM NEEDING A 3 SPOOL AND ONLY HAVE 2 , I HAVE A GREAT-BEND 330 LOADER 2 SPOOL AND WANT A GRAPLE ,DO I NEED TO CHANGE THE WHOLE 2 SPOOL TO A 3 OR CAN I ADD 1 SPOOL TO THE ONE I CURRENTLY HAVE AND HOW . I AM NOT THE BEST WITH HYDS. WHAT DOES THE LETTERS P-W-B-Y-D STAND FOR WHICH IS ON A PLUG ON MY CURRENT VALVE.I ORDERED A 3 SPOOL FROM SURPLUS CENTER AND ITS COSTING A SMALL FORTUNE TO GET UP AND GOING ANY SUGGESTIONS HOLT50 THANKS

You should have ordered a selector/diverter valve, which will switch the curl circuit to a grapple circuit, using a switch.

Default circuit is the curl with no voltage applied.

Here is the valve.

Surplus Center - 12 VDC 13.2 GPM SAE 8 DOUBLE SELECTOR VALVE

Those letters mean power beyond which is a port to feed other valves downstream. It is high pressure rated.

J J THANKS FOR responding will this selector valve plum into my 2 spool or does it go behind tractor ,I am thinking the plug with P W B Y D ON IT IS WHERE I START IS THIS RIGHT ,What I am trying to do is put on my squeezer [ it grips a round bale of hay to stack in barn ] and I WANT TO BE ABLE TO CHANGE FROM SQUEEZER TO BALE SPEAR WITHOUT 50 FEET OF HYD HOSE TO CONTEND WITH AS I WILL CHANGE EVERY 25-40 BALES holt50

The selector valve can go anywhere.

You can use a momentary switch for a short switch over or a toggle switch to latch it on.

If your valve and spear is on the front, there will be short hoses.

If your valve and spear is on the rear there will be short hoses,

If your valve is at the rear and the spear up front, there will be long hoses, but that should not be a big problem.

J J HOW WOULD I PLUM THE SELECTOR VALVE IN TO MY TWO SPOOL VALVE OR DO I PUT ON THE REAR OF TRACTOR AND RUN HOSE'S TO THE SQUEEZER , I'LL BE CHANGING VERY OFTEN AND ALSO COULD I REMOVE THE POWER BEYOND PLUG AND PUT A NIPPLE IN AND GO WITH A SINGLE OR POSSIBLE TWO SPOOL VALVE, I HAVE BEEN TOLD THATS WHAT I SHOULD DO BUT IT SEEMS TO EASY TO WORK PROPERLY MINE IN OPEN CENTER HYDS. holt50

The selector valve will be installed in the curl circuit.

From the curl work ports, two hoses go to the selector valve, and from the selector valve, the default ports go to the curl circuit and the other set of ports go to the grapple cyl circuit.

Default mode with no voltage is curl. When you apply 12v to the solenoid, the grapple is operational.

If you are using a separate monoblock valve with PB, you would use the PB port from your two spool valve using a PB adapter.

The valve can go up front or back.

J J This is holt50 again on that double selector valve from surplus center do I take the power beyond plug out plum from there I need three spool and only have 2 using a bale grapple to stack hay it is on front end loader and I need to change from graple to spear about every 10 bales so I need it convient without a lot of hose to contend with there has to be 2 outlets to the valve I know this is from my 2 spool valve on the loader is where i' start from. now I have a C-70 McCORMICK I would like to put one of these selector valves on to unroll hay .I need to operate 2 cylinders and dont have enough outlets what all would I need to order and thanks you're alot of help holt50

When using the selector valve, you are selecting one of two cyl to operate using the curl lever,.

The PB plug is necessary to pass fluid downstream.
