homemade dump trailer hydraulic q`s

Me and a friend built a dump trailer .
With a single hydro pump the dump comes down pretty fast and slams against the frame pretty hard with a load in there.
Besides getting a two way pump is there a way to better control how fast it comes down>

any help is appreciated...

p.s. I would love to put a scissor lift for more power on it, Ive searched all over and do not see a place I could buy it.. any ideas?

I dont know about the scissor lift part. but you can put a inline flow control valve on the return side line to the tank to control how fast or slow it drops.Should be able to pick up one at about any hydraulics place. zman

There is only one line gong to the cylinder. Can I put the Flow Control Valve on that then?

Praha99,

That will limit the speed of the lift. Try this, put a check valve in line with the cylinder hose. Parallel the check valve with a needle valve. In normal operation, the full flow will flow to the cylinder. The return flow will try and flow against the check valve, but can't, so it has to go through the needle valve. Adjust the needle valve to lower trailer bed more slowly. .

Yes, very simple. Look at this Parker 800s and you will see that it only controls flow in one direction (lower) and allows full flow in the opposite direction (lift).

Now if I could find the scissor assembly I`d be all set. I think I`ll have to contact a dump trailer manufacturer.
