I am working on a very small project to keep the blowing snow from hitting my face.

The first time I used the front mount blower this year, I realized I need some protection from the blowing snow.

When the snow hit my face and melted, it was oh so painful. A memory that I hope to soon forget, and the ice/ snow combo in my hair.

Since a cab is out of the question this year due to the cost, and me not feeling like spending the time to build one, I figured I needed something cheap and quick.

So.. here is what I came up with so far. I have the plexiglass, just haven't attached it yet. I figure I have about $12 in parts.

I put about a 10" slice at the bottom of the pvc, then inside the 2" pvc, I have a 1 1/2" pvc with the same slice. It slides on to the loader mounts, and attaches with a clamp on each side.

Now, all I need is more snow, so I can test it out.
If it works, I'll probably paint the pvc black.

My solution looks like this. Nice and warm and snow free.

Bob,

I thought about wearing a helmet, if my shield fails, then I will wear one for the remainder of the season.

I used a cab from a snowblower that I found at HD. I welded up a mount for my Honda 5013 and it works well except for my lower legs. It flips forward so you can enter and rests on the rope at the rear. I need to add some flaps to protect my legs. I think it might be large enough for my Kioti.

Every heard the phrase..."don't piss into the wind"? Same goes for snowblowing.

Goggles and a scarf work well also.

Just an update. I was able to score a used cab on craigslist for $70.
I little grinding of the rust, changing out the rusted bolts, rattle can spray job, now I think I'm set for this winter.

In my opinion you made a smart move. That's a fine looking rig you have there.

I'm guessing your original shield may have been disappointing in that the wind blown snow would to tend to eddie current around the ends and be in your face as an end result. A V shaped wind break tends to alleviate that problem.
