Any one have suggestions or advice (silly question for this group's wealth of knowledge) regarding a family hopepage service that is inexpensive & not to difficult to build? One that can manage some photos - not to ellaborate...
thanx in advance

If you want a place to post photos w/ a few comments attached, you can set up an account at Pbase.com. It is currently a free service, though they say that they are going to start charging at some point "soon." - not sure how much. Of course, this wouldn't be the setup if you want something more elaborate, but an easy place to post pictures.

If you are in to learning a little computer-geek stuff, your ISP probably already allocates you a number of megs of disk space on their servers. You should inquire how to get to it. Once you know where it is, you could "roll your own" without having to incur any extra cost (except your time /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif).

I'd definately concur with RanchMan about checking with your ISP first ..... that's usually something they give you as part of your "package" - email, ~ 5 mb of webspace for your personal site, and easy/simple tools to build a personal site.
If you want something a littl emore elaborate ... I just finished putting up my second site at a really inexpensive hosting service: http:/www.my-site.com
I'm managing the website for the local chapter of an Inventory Management association and also, now, managing the website for the local bike club (GWRRA).
It cost me just $20 each to register the url's (used to be $120!) and it's costing me $60/yr for each account fo rthe hosting service. That gives me 50mb of space and 20 mailboxes ...

Thanx for the advice. I use Juno ISP & they don't really provide a "free" homepage anymore. The 3rd party company that they used went under & now you get a free trial & then pay $59 per year thereafter for 50mb. Mine is www.shade2u2.hothomepages.com & if anyone wants to view what they provide & comment, I would certainly appreciate it. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
What about my own domain (like me.com) that I see for 8.95/year like at "GoDaddy". Can I design my own webpage. I'm not currently up on html code(or whatever it might take), but I may be able to learn something.

I seem to always have trouble opening by webpage. That is annoying. Right now, I can't get in.
