Honda 6522 won't start

Hey folks,

I have a Honda 6522 diesel tractor that suddenly won't start. I used it two days ago and started it multiple times without any problems. Checked ignition switch that is working properly, jumped starter which is working okay, but still get nothing but glow plugs and fuel pump operating. Battery is fine but put jump pack on just in case. I am unable to determine if the problem is with the start relay or if there is a neutral safety switch. I bypassed the seat switch but didn't help. I found the wiring diagram on line but it is very difficult to read it as it is so condensed. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

So the starter spins the engine over but it won't start? Check the fuel shutoff solenoid at the injector pump, it probably isn't opening.

The starter will spin when I jump it across the terminals. The problem is it won't start using the ignition switch. I checked the start output on the ignition switch and its giving a 12 volt output but I can't determine if its getting past the neutral safety switch or I believe it goes to the start relay first.

Either run a new wire from the start lug on the switch to the starter solenoid or trace out the original run and find what's bad.

These are great little tractors but they have a ton of interlocks on them. My tractor was used by some outfit to clear parking lots of snow and spread de-icer. They obviously didn't know how to take care of them because it was a rusted out mess when I got it. As a result, nothing turns easily. I still have to get under my tractor and use a screw driver to pry my PTO linkage into the neutral position every time. So my point is, check your interlocks and maybe even that one in particular. Also, up by the starter solenoid, disconnect and reconnect some of those wires. Mine had bad contact and when I was trying to start it with a screw driver, I noticed that issue.

Most likely an interlock as previously stated. Probably the easiest to check would by the 123R shifter lever under the cowl for the shifter.

Are you getting a clicking from the solenoid area when you turn the key to the "START" position? Or nothing happening from the solenoid area?
