I'm a Honda Small Engine Dealer, I had an 8hp engine sound strange when reving it listening for a problem. At higher rpm it just stumbled badly!
After researching it the new engines have Rev-Limiters built into the coil!
This one had the new style coil with the plug with the gasket like on computer car engines. (old coil had spade connection)
Not sure how they got it in a small package. ??
I worked on some Drag Cars some years ago and they used "Stutter Boxes" so they could hold peddle to the floor at the line and release a button and go to full throttle. But they were a lot bigger.
