Should know by now but I have a bush hog backhoe 865H which I attach and remove in order to use other implements. Frequency to attach to tractor usually no more than 3 times per year.

When I go to make the 3pt hookup I always have way to much trouble and frustration. Any suggestions or procedure suggestions to make this ordeal an easier process? Manual does not really elaborate. Thanks for any help!:(

I usually hook up the two arms first and then the top link. If I backed up a little crooked and can only get 1 armed pinned, then I move forward or backward a hair which will line up the 2nd one.

or if I cant get both arms but can get 1 arm and a top link, just lift up and it will line up the other arm for you.

If your having trouble getting the top link in or get tired of shortening it and then lengthening it again, just lift up some. This will make more space between the tractor and implement.

For PTO implement I always spay some wd-40 (or whatever your fav pen oil is) on the PTO and coupler before putting it on. Makes it much easier to slide on and off.

Thanks for the help. I am able to connect to the lift arm links but have the biggest issue with lining up squarely the upper link in order to push the link bolt which is half inch on one end and three fourth inch on other end through the hole on the upper tractor frame. I guess I need to practice more and have a bit more patience. Just seems like getting the hole alignment for top link completely straight is tough and should not be such a challenge. When you disconnect your backhoe do you have any special base built that you let the backhoe frame base rest on?

guess I read your post a little fast and thought you were talking about a shredder... dont have any experience with hooking up a 3pt backhoe... but I imagine advise for anything 3pt would be about the same.

What I do when lining up a top link it slightly raise/lower the the 3pt while standing behind the tractor so I can watch for pin alignment.

Or I'll do the same thing, while trying to push the pin through. so if I'm pushing it though and it gets tight, wiggle the 3pt a hair up and down while constantly pushing on the pin and it will work all the way through.
