First we have 200 hours on the machine. It started originally with a delay. So if we put it into gear, then it would take a few seconds to engage. At that point I had spoken to New Holland and they said that we didn't necessarily need a new clutch but that we should start with the less expensive repairs first. The clutch cable was their recommendation. My husband doesn't think that will even make a difference so we have the part now, but he hasn't installed it as of yet. They said if that didn't work, then to replace the clutch adjustment, they said sometimes if it has the slightest stretch in it, it will make quite the difference. My husband said it adjusts so he can't see how it can be that as well. Now today it wouldn't go into gear at all at first. Husband adjusted it as much as possible. That didn't work. He said he detached the linkage and then reattached it (hope this is all making good sense) It started working again. Of course it is being babied but we do need to figure this out because we are concerned we are just going to have this machine stuck at the wrong place at the wrong time and unable to move it. We are pretty much at a loss as we don't want to go ahead and just replace the clutch if there is a simpler issue that could cause this. Btw it is a 98
