Please help this ol brain remember. Yes, there is a thread here someplace about it but searched a bit and cannot find it.

For an older 80's Troybilt Horse what type and weight of oil to put in the trans?????..........Something tells me GL3???........Yellow metal friendly with a weight of 90?????.........Thanks...it's oil change time for the many hours of running coming up soon.......God bless......Dennis

My 84 horse calls for 140# GL-1. 90# can be used. Both can still be found.

Don't know if GL-2 or 3 are still available but I have seen GL-4 in both 90 and 140# and they said it was yellow metal safe.

I think my 1992 Horse called for 140W GL4. I think that is what I used when I changed it a few years ago. I got the oil at my local NAPA store
