Sounds great, i'm not to good to ask for help on jobs especially if there is enough to help some one else.

I know nothing of the new computer programmers for the newer diesels. The old manual pumps generally were very easy to jack up the HP. Went to a Fairbanks Morris/Colt Pielstick school for our stand by diesel at a nuclear power plant. The question was asked how far you could turn up the HP on a diesel. The instuctor said there was not a definite limit. Jack up the diesel pumps, and add more boost on turbo air, but there was one variable. Of course we were all curious and had to have that variable. The instructor just told us that some would stand double the design HP and some would stand even more, but at some point they will all self destruct. All will have shorter life spans and burn more fuel when jacked much above design pressure. Exhaust temps have to be monitored or you will burn the tops off of the pistons.

The diesels we were learning about at Fairbanks Morris were 14 cylinders and you could crawl into a cylinder. They turned 500 RPM.

I've been retired 11 yrs, but if memory serves me correctly, the diesel units were 6.5 megawatt. Of course NRC/Tech specs required 2. Plant itself was a single unit 1150 megawatt and later improved/jacked up to over 1200 megawatt. That is a lot of power. Biggest coal burner I was ever in was 750 megawatt and the boiler was 300 ft tall. I think I'm getting a bit off the subject, but like to tell sea stories.

I may be off on the power of the emergency diesels. Not hard to forget when that is your goal.
