ISEKI TU 2100
Hello,
First post from new member. I'm from Queensland, Australia and have owned my ISEKI 4WD TU2100 for about 9 months now. I have a 4 ram FEL fitted and a 4' slasher on the back. Great tractor now that I have fixed a few things such as dead glow plugs, faulty ignition switch and a leaky radiator.

Just a quick question for all of you. Why do I constantly see people overating their tractor HP? I have seen TU and TL 2100's advertised anywhere from 23hp to 26hp. My frame has a label that clearly states 21ps, which is 21 metric horsepower. Even the Kubotas are labled the same where their model numbers correspond to horsepower. Why are the HP ratings on these tractors so often overstated?? What are others thoughts on this?

Love the forum,
Brett.

Gidday Brett,
Welcome to TBN.
I get the impression from what I've read here that a lot of tractors are rated for total HP and PTO HP. Can't see it anywhere in my manual though??
I would assume the PTO HP would always be lower than the tractor HP
I've seen my TS1910 rated from 19-23HP as well.

PS. Your not a Mad Max fan by any chance? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

engine HP is the highest rating PTO is the middle rating, HP at wheels is the lowest. the more gears you go through the more inefficent it is, so less HP. Larry

Yeah John, I'm a Max fan. But.....I'm more of a fan of XA-XC Hardtops, especially my XB! Thanks for the reply. I've included a picture of my data plate. I just assumed the way the plate was laid out with engine displacement followed by power, that the hp corresponded with the ISEKI model number. I guess the PTO rating makes sense, especially when that is what you hook the power dependent devices to.

Brett.

Thanks for the reply Larry.

Yeah I guess the PTO rating make sense in a way. I think I'll still tell people that my ISEKI is a 21 horse when they ask. Seems more honest to me!

Thanks again,
Brett.

Hi, as far as i know the hp given is the pto-hp. Which is about 2/3 of the engine hp. Mostly the first two digits of the model give it away. For instance, my ts1910 has 19 hp at the pto. Add 30% and jou got the engine hp, which is about 25.
Greetzzz!

Your comparing metric rating to SAE ratings. Compacts are usually advertised using the engine hp. A YM2000 (Japanese model) is rated at 20 metric engine hp. A YM240 (US version of the YM2000) is rated at 24 SAE engine hp (20% more than metric engine hp). A TU2100 is 21 metric engine hp or 25 SAE engine hp. The engine HP is usually about 20% more than the pto hp, so the metric engine rating is =.to the SAE pto hp.

Len,
I guess Yanmar USA is telling porky pies as well. 20 metric horsepower (PS) is only 19.7 SAE hp not 24 SAE hp. An Iseki TU2100 with 21 metric hp only has 20.70 SAE hp not 25 SAE hp. 1 Metric hp = 735.5 Watts. 1 SAE hp = 745.9 Watts. I'm Not sure what conversion the US distributors are using but it seems they have invented their own conversion formula to benefit themselves!

I'm going by what Yanmar , Mitsubishi , & Iseki use in thier literature for US model that directly cross to Japanese models. The ym2000 is 20ps/2400 rpm & the ym240 is 2hp/2400rpm. Mitsubishi & Iseki literature compares the same way. It isn't a matter of the US distributors inventing their own conversion formula to benefit themselves! I think there must be some cofusion in terminology.I searched for some conversion tables with PS. The closest I found was a site with conversions For SAE HP, Metric HP & KW. The conversion was 1 SAE hp = .7457 Metric hp = 1.014 KW. This doesn't quite fit either our formulas.

That is correct from what I have found: the PTO HP usually is the first two digits, at least with the grey market tractors... And most do consider the engine HP to be 1.3 x the PTO HP. That would make Brett's TU2100 (21 pto x 1.3= 27.3HP) or rounding down to 27 engine HP. G'day mate!
