Is there an noticeable difference in 29 hp. vs. 35 hp. at the pto on a utility tractor?

With a 5ft rotary cutter or a 6ft finish mower, I doubt you will notice much difference unless you are in extremely tall, think grass.

Looking at TYM 35 hp tractor and McCormick 41 hp tractor, both 4x4, both with loader and backhoe. Cost difference is about $3000 for 41 vs. 35 hp. Have about 4 acres to brush hog and 4 acres to mow, plus snowplowing in winter.....not sure which one to but...

I run a 5' Ford Bush Hog and a 6' Caroni Finish Mower with my Jinma 284. Its a 28 Hp 4x4 diesel tractor. I had it dynoed and it did a peak 31 Hp on the pto but simple short answer is you will have no problem. My good friend has a Case DX29 and runs a 5' King Kutter Bush Hog and a 6' Land Pride Finish Mower and has no issues either. Rule of thumb is 5 HP per foot on mowers and Bush Hogs for most instances.

$3000 would buy a lot of neat implements. But which tractor suites your seat, arms, feet and eye? If you know what I mean.

The more important figure here might be the torque of each machine and whether it is at the same rated speed. I know some of the newer JD compacts have disparate HP ratings, both flywheel and PTO, but the torque numbers are close. I know we go by PTO HP all the time, but this might be but one facet of the question at hand. I agree with Chris and the others, you would be fine with either, but one might labor a bit more than the other in the work at hand.

I don't know either of the tractors, but you might pay attention to what rpm you need to get 540 on the pto.
The Kubota KX series has to run flat out at max rpm (2700) to run the pto at 540. The Kubota M series loafs along at 2000 rpm, about 20% below max. Personally, I don't like have to run any engine at constant max rpm, it just doesn't seem good.
Also check what the noise level when running the 540 pto speed.
