Kioti CK25
MY CK25 is four months old. Last weekend I had to jump it off to start. This weekend had to jump again, and after driving it for one and a half hours, had to put diesel in it, and it was dead again. That's not the biggest problem. On the way back to the house I noticed that the hour meter was at 67 hours, it was at 49 an hour and a half before! Will a dead battery make that happen or what is the deal? I have since unhooked the battery and it is on charge right now.

Call Your Dealer, or at least Kioti. Hour meter jump ahead is not something that you can probably fix and you need to make sure that Kioti or your dealer has it documented for warranty issues later on.

Also, it sounds like you may need a new battery, but first make sure you clean the cable ends really good first to see if that is it.

Good Luck,,,

Cur, you shouldn't have to jump a new tractor, could have a bad cell in the battery which are dealer installed. In addition to cleaning the posts, check/clean your ground. Is it possible you are leaving the key of some lights on? My knee would hit the turn signal when exiting sometime. Setting the parking brake might leave the brake lights on even when the key is off.

Thank goodness, I thought I was the only one doing that ;)

Battery dead for no apparent reason and hour meter jumps.....

1) Aliens abducted the tractor and screwed up their time machine calculations when returning it (and left the lights on)

or,

2) Ignition was left on inadvertently and the operator recalls the hours registered when he thought he shut the machine off. Battery drained and hour meter advanced.

#2 seems simpler but who knows.

Honestly, there's got to be a better way for them to hook up the hour meter. Like to come on ONLY WHEN THE TRACTOR IS RUNNING!
Just a thought..

Okay, it turned out to be aliens. Apparently they're mowing my grass while I sleep. haha. No really, I charged my battery to 100% and hooked it back up. Of course it started right away, but when I unhooked the battery the tractor died instantly. I've been told that in that case, the alternator is out. Seriously though, aliens have been spotted around here!? Thanks for your input.

Dad gum new fangled diesels have to have 12v to run!!! My gear tractor only needs a battery to start. Thank goodness because my few month old alternator just failed again. I'll just trickle charge it when I'm not there now.

Just another "benefit" of having a fuel shutoff solenoid so that we can kill the engine with the key instead of a real mechanical fuel shutoff.

I guess consumers today aren't smart enough to comprehend how to do anything that is different from your average car...
