House generator questions...second thoughts on whole house system.

i bet if i wanted to spend some time, i could count the number of unused snow mobiles, unused rv's and unused boats, and unused cars (lots of them on 2 properties) on my block. now these are financially not worth it. i feel a generator is. but im a lazy sack that likes to be comfortable.
